Effectiveness of Vernaculars on pronunciation of English produced by Foreign Speakers (With reference to Eastern local tongues)

Abstract

The study is designed to examine the effeteness of vernaculars on pronunciation produced by foreign speakers with reference to Sudanese eastern local tongue. The study investigated if vernacular is merely the cause of the speaker’s poor performance in English Language output skills. The question of the study is (what are the main reasons that contribute to cause the influence of such vernacular which form the utterance errors of English language among the Red Sea students. The hypothesizes raised as that Using vernacular as a social communication language rather than English language generate negative impact in English language. The methodology which the research follows is qualitative, descriptive and historical methods. The findings reveal that mother tongue influences the students’ poor performance in English language of university students and there are other factors contributing to students’ poor performance in English language. These other factors are poor method of teaching, lack of textbooks, language background and lack of professional growth and development of teachers in primary schools .The recommendations that introduced are reconsider syllabus, conducting seminars, English clubs , selection of perfect and well trained teachers are extremely required specially at primary stage. Moreover library should be established in basic schools and English language clubs and games. Measures that could be taken to enhance students’ achievement in every aspect of English language are suggested.

جاءت الدراسة بعنوان اثر اللغات المحلية و الدارجة علي النطق باللغة الانجليزية عند استخدامها من قبل الناطقين بغيرها. تطرقت الدراسة الي كل ما من شانه ان يؤثر علي مهارة الكلام والنطق . دار سؤال البحث عن ما هو السبب الرئيسي الذي يساهم في سيطرة اللهجات المحلية التي تسبب اخطاء النطق باللغة الانجليزية عند استخدامها من قبل الناطقين بغيرها ؟.هدفت الدراسة إلي تسليط الضوء على خصائص اللغة الانجليزية تاريخ ومستقبل اللغة الانجليزية. واستعرضت الدراسة نشاءة اللغة الدارجة المحلية وتاثير الاحتلال السياسي و العسكري الاجنبي و انتقال كتير من مفردات المحتل الاجنبي الي مفردات اللغة المحلية .التعرف علي النسيج المجتمعي لولاية البحر الاحمر اثنيا و تاريخيا. أيضا في المساهمة بالتعريف بمشكلات المناهج اتواعها وخصائصها.اُتبع في الدراسة المنهج الوصفي ومنهج دراسة الحالة والمنهج التاريخي والمنهج الإحصائي التحليلي SPSS.تمت الاجابة علي فروض البحث عبر اجراء المقابلات و الاستبانة باعتبارها اداتين لجمع و تحليل البيانات . توصلت الدراسة لمجموعة من النتائج أهمها ان الكثيرون من طلاب الجامعات يتحاشون التخاطب باللغة الانجليزية مخافة الوقوع في الاخطاء.التعود علي التحدث باللغة العامية يؤثر علي مخارج الحروف.وخلصت الدراسة لعدد من التوصيات أهمها اختيار المنهج المناسب من مناهج التدريس المختلفة وتفعيله في المرحلة الاولية .انشاء مكتبات بمدارس الاساس وتشجيع الطلاب علي مماسبة الالعاب باللغة الانجليزية وقيام المنتدبات و اندية المخاطبة .
