The Role of Cognitive Styles And Learning Strategies in Educational Process ( A Case Study : PortSudan Locality's Schools)

Abstract

Abstract This study addressed the subject of the cognitive styles and learning strategies in educational process. The study aimed at finding out the factors that affect cognitive styles and proper learning strategies in learning English language in PortSudan locality's schools. The study followed the descriptive, analytical and historical approach, and approach of the case study. The researcher subjected data collected to analysis through using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS), then the study came out with several results; the most important of them are as follows: Developing the conceptual abilities to the student, is joint responsibility between teacher and his student equally. English language learners communicate in English for social and instructional purposes do not conduct within the schools setting. Modern learning strategies are constantly used in locality's schools. According to the above results, the study recommends the followings: Challenges which faced students should be faced to prepare the adequate environment for opening horizons of students to attract them to sound learning process. The necessary to eliminate weakness in the awareness in students' cognitive styles and in teachers' learning strategies. Students should be gave the opportunity to improve their mental abilities through valuable strategies and extending practicable exercises.

المستخلص تناولت هذه الدراسة موضوع الأساليب المعرفية واستراتيجيات التعلم في العملية التعليمية. هدفت الدراسة إلى معرفة العوامل التي تؤثر على الأساليب المعرفية واستراتيجيات التعلم المناسبة في تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية في مدارس محلية بورتسودان. اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي والتحليلي والتاريخي، ومنهج دراسة الحالة. البيانات أخضع الباحث البيانات التي تم جمعها للتحليل من خلال استخدام البرنامج الحاسوبي الحزم الإحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية (SPSS)، توصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج من أهمها ما يلي: تنمية قدرات الذهنية للطلاب مسؤولية مشتركة بين المعلم وتلميذه على حد سواء. المدارس لا تعد دروساً في التخاطب بين دارسي اللغة الإنجليزية ضمن أغراض إجادة التخاطب التعليمية والاجتماعية. يتم استخدام استراتيجيات التعلم الحديثة باستمرار في مدارس المحلية. وفقاً للنتائج المذكورة أعلاه، توصي الدراسة بالآتي: ضرورة مواجهة التحديات التي تواجه الطلاب لتهيئة البيئة الملائمة لفتح آفاقهم وجذبهم نحو عملية تعلم سليمة. ضرورة القضاء على ضعف المعلومات عن الأساليب الإدراكية لدى الطلاب واستراتيجيات التعلم لدى المعلمين. إعطاء الطلاب المزيد من فرص تحسين قدراتهم الذهنية من خلال استراتيجيات تعلم مفيدة ومن خلال إعطاءهم تمارين تعليمية موسعة.
