Investigating the EFL Learners cultural Expressions on Promoting Language Proficiency (A case study of Basic school, Port SudanTown 2019-2020) ‏

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the cultural expressions of EFL learners about enhancing language proficiency. The researcher used the descriptive and analytical method to collect and analyze data. Use the questionnaire as a data collection tool. The questionnaire consists of ten questions for teachers of English as a foreign language. The study was conducted at Red Sea University during the year 2020. The researcher concluded that teaching culture and integrating it into the English language improves students' performance. It has been observed that exposing students to the culture of the English language provides them with new expressions that help them master it. Most of the teachers agreed that the student's attitude towards culture is the most important factor in helping to engage in English culture. Moreover, students who engage in the culture of the English language before learning it reflect on their performance during the learning process. Most of the students agreed that awareness of language culture improves learners' abilities during the learning process. Based on the above findings, the study recommends the inclusion of broadly taught cultural aspects in addition to other language skills. . Teachers of English as a foreign language must be well versed in the culture of the English language. Furthermore, English culture must be taught in addition to other language skills of the English language. Teachers must be fully familiar with the culture of the English language before teaching it as a foreign language. English language culture must be incorporated during the English language teaching process to improve learner performance.

مستخلص هدفت الدراسة إلى التحقق من تأثير التعبيرات الثقافية لدارسي اللغة الانجليزية كلغة أجنبية حول تعزيز إتقان اللغة. استخدم الاستبيان كأداة لجمع البيانات، يتكون الاستبيان من عشرة أسئلة لمدرسي اللغة الإنجليزية . أجريت الدراسة في جامعة البحر الأحمر خلال العام ٢٠٢٠متوصل الباحث إلى أن تدريس الثقافة ودمجها باللغة الإنجليزية يحسن من أداء الدارسين.، لوحظ أن تعريض الدارسين للثقافة الإنجليزية يوفر لهم تعبيرات جديدة. اتفق معظم المعلمين إلى أن موقف الدارس تجاه الثقافة يساعد في اشراكهم للثقافة الإنجليزية علاوة على ذلك الطلاب الذين ينخرطون في الثقافة الانجليزية قبل تعلمها ينعكس ذلك على أداءهم أثناء تعلم اللغة الانجليزية كلغة أجنبية. اتفق معظم الطلاب بأن الوعي وإدراك الثقافة يحسن من قدراتهم أثناء عملية التعلم. بناءاً على النتائج المذكورة أعلاه توصي الدراسة بما يلي يجب تضمين تدريس الجوانب الثقافية على نطاق واسع بالإضافة إلى المهارات اللغوية في دورات اللغة الإنجليزية. يجب أن يكون مدرسي اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية على دراية والإمام تام بثقافة اللغة الإنجليزية.
